R1Soft Continuous Data Protection minimizes performance impact on your server by monitoring disk activity and backing up only changed data.

How It Works

Step 1Each file volume is initially backed up in its entirety to support bare-metal (complete) restoration
Step 2The Continuous Data Protection agent on each server monitors disk sector changes with virtually no effect on performance or file operations
Step 3Changed sectors called recovery points are written to backup storage at user-defined intervals in the backup schedule. Backing up compressed, changed sectors (recovery points) rather than entire files can reduce your storage needs by up to 90%.
Step 4Each disk image includes file system formatting, partition table details, and volume management data needed to rebuild the entire disk image from each recovery point stored on the continuous data protection server.
Step 5View and restore any combination of individual files and directories from any recovery point through an easy web interface / file browser.
Step 6When a disaster requires you to restore an entire hard drive, the server boots into a special recovery mode and the file system is completely restored without re-installing the operating system or re-partitioning the drive(s).
